Editor’s Note: In keeping with our mission of being the leading provider of customer engagement solutions, our Senior Copywriter (and newest blog contributor) David Rizzo wrote the following account of how a financial institution saved the day.
For us, it’s important to show the true difference these solutions can make when it comes to delighting customers and making their lives just a little bit easier.
My wife is the most kind and understanding person I know, and I’m very lucky to have her — just ask her.
There is, however, one occasion for which she has zero tolerance for carelessness — our wedding anniversary. For this special day marks my wife’s crowning achievement. It’s the day she tamed the untamable. And I’ll be the first to admit, it must be properly acknowledged.
Now, I know the importance of this going in. The day is circled in red on my desktop calendar. My cellphone calendar is set to alert me one month in advance. I have my watch battery changed two weeks prior. There’s no way this date gets past me. It’s happened before. The repercussions were great. A result of my own “inconsiderate and careless nature.” Her words, not mine. But that frightful day, which lingered into quite an unpleasant month, is for another blog.
The most special of occasions
This year’s anniversary was special. It marked 10 years of marital bliss.
When I come through with an anniversary gift that’s heartwarming and unique, that properly honors the day and screams “you’re worth it!” — well, let’s just say things go a lot more smoothly around the ol’ household. It’s the ultimate win-win.
I did my research and had it all planned. I was gonna knock it out of the park. Dinner, gifts, drinks, flowers, card, the works. Seamless and automated. All I had to do was not screw it up.
Here’s where things went into a sudden and terrifying downward spiral. What I had NOT factored into our perfect evening was losing my wallet two hours before it even started. Did I lose it at the gym? During lunch? How could I be so dumb?
How my bank and instant issuance saved my bacon
There was no time to beat myself up. My raging panic became laser focus. My bank had a small branch location in the lobby of my building. Grabbing the passport I kept in the glove compartment of my car, I ran to the branch explaining my situation to anyone who would listen.
Literally five minutes later, a branch representative, Ginger, who I can only recall in the floating, glowing form of an angel, handed me a fully functioning, personalized, chip-enabled replacement credit card that was ready to use immediately.
All I can say is thank goodness for instant card issuance technology. My bank totally saved my bacon, and they now have a customer for life.
Oh, yes, the anniversary? One for the ages.
